Nereïden

In Greek mythology, the nereids were the companions of Poseidon, the god of water and the sea. Just like those nymphs, these big, beautiful pear-shaped pearls come from the sea. Like spiralling seaweed, the hand-wound stainless steel wire twists itself around the pearls. Seeing that, who wouldn’t be reminded of the kelp forests in the Sargasso Sea? Like sea otters who sleep on the surface wrapped in seaweed, the tsavorites repose in their ‘algal nest’.

Perhaps one can imagine the nereids like this too, recovering after their play with waves … or mariners.
